Mad Max Answers: Two New Mad Max Movies

Two new Mad Max movies are in the works. Titled "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Mad Max: Furiosa", the two films are allegedly being filmed back to back for a quick release.

Mel Gibson will apparently not reprise his role as ex-cop Max Rockatonski. Rumor has it, Tom Hardy will fill in.

There are no stills or clips yet and the first installment, the fourth in the series and the first in nearly 25 years, will be released in 2012.

Mad Max Answers: What happened to the rest of the MFP

Max in the first movie, Mad Max, is a member of the Main Force Patrol, a police department maintained with holding the line in an increasingly lawless society.

Besides Max and Goose (who is killed by the Toecutter's gang) there are other members of the local department and other departments in nearby cities. We see two members from a nearby town in the scenes opening as they chase Night Rider towards Max, Goose and the rest of the gang.

At the end of the movie, Max takes the V8 Interceptor and goes after Toecutter's gang. We learn that after dispatching them, he disappears into the wastelands. But what about the rest of the MFP?

According to one version of the movie which has not been seen since its release, the MFP headquarters is attacked by Toecutter shortly before or after Max takes the Interceptor. In the attack, many of the remaining members were killed or wounded and taken out of the picture.

In the book based The Road Warrior, released after the movie, Max reminisces that Fifi, the head of the local MFP, could no longer hold the force together and anarchy took over.

Whatever the true story, the MFP ceased to exist sometime after Max took off for the wastelands.
